Establish or reestablish a morning routine that works for your family.

Good morning,
There will be no GASA today. GASA Teachers have a planning day instead. Thank you.

“Because I said so!” is frustrating for middle schoolers to hear. Explain your reasoning.

When your child dawdles, set a timer. Say, “Try to finish before it rings.”

Look for a skill you and your child can learn together. It’s a fun way to get to know your child on a new level.

Parents,
Today your child(ren) will come home with Center Elementary's monthly newsletter to keep you informed. It will include information about upcoming events and other news. The English and Spanish copies can be found by clicking this link: https://5il.co/2c5j5

Attention Please: This is a reminder to complete the Census Verification Update for your child(ren). If you have more than one child, it only has to be completed once for all of your children. We want to ensure you have updated your emergency contacts and other important information. Follow the directions in the bottom right corner if you already have a Parent Portal Account. A copy of the instructions will be coming home with your child(ren) today. You may have received a REMIND message from your child's teacher this week in addition to this today. If you have already completed the verification process, please ignore this message.

Talk with your child about mistakes. What are some ways people can learn from their mistakes?

Teach your child: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”

Friendly Reminder: 2nd 9 Weeks Report Cards will go home with students on January 10th.

Suggest a book to your child in which the main character is a positive role model.

Is your child shy? Encourage your student to seek out someone who looks ill at ease and start up a friendly conversation.

Let your child make choices about what to wear (within reasonable limits).

Be sure to ask your child about pictures that went home with them today. They should be in your child's bookbag. Picture Retake Day is on January 17th for anyone who needs them. If you choose not to keep the pictures that went home today, please return the pictures on the retake picture day, Jan. 17th.

Choose a number from 1-12. How many things can your child think of that come in that number?

Please take a moment to check out the January edition of the "Helping Children Learn" newsletter, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or require further assistance. Your active involvement in your child's education is truly appreciated. Paper copies will be given to students today, so check your child's bookbag. Click here for a digital copy. If your child wants to talk at an inconvenient moment, schedule a time to talk later—and be sure to follow through.

Turn over a self-care responsibility you’ve previously done for your child. Present it as a positive step.

Have your child make a step-by-step plan to reach a New Year’s goal.

Put your child in charge of taking photos at a family event.
