February is Center Elementary School's month to decorate the bulletin board in the main lobby at the Ware County Board of Education. Mrs. Kim Smith, Art teacher at CES, decorated the boards with various heart-themed artworks from her K-5th grade students. Kindergarten and 1st grade created heart mosaics by ripping small pieces of multi-colored paper to create their image of a heart. The 2nd and 3rd graders created colorful artworks consisting of puzzle-like hearts, using warm and cool colors as their color palette. Chalk pastels were used to render their artworks. For the 4th and 5th grade artists, they constructed optical illusion drawings of warm-colored hearts with cool-colored vertical stripes. Chalk pastels and Q-Tips were used to create these fun and vibrant pieces.
