READMarathon is the ultimate 26-day reading challenge founded by Superbowl Champion and Georgia native, Malcolm Mitchell. Mitchell’s literacy initiative, Read with Malcolm, encourages students across the country to build reading stamina and expand their curiosity for reading each day. By introducing students to reading persistence and debunking the stone age stereotype that reading is boring, students were empowered to push themselves in the arena of reading.
Center Elementary’s 5th Grade students accepted the challenge and read a total of 35,308 minutes. Congratulations to Samantha M. (2020 minutes read), Joshua G. (1847 minutes read), and Xavier C. (1831 minutes read) for being the top readers from Mrs. Clark’s Class. Congratulations to Ethan C. (685 minutes read), Micheal C. (620 minutes read), and Terry M. (560 minutes read) for being the top readers from Mrs. Nettles’ Class. Together we can transform lives through literacy.
