Congratulations to our February 2026 Golden Achievement Award Winners, Haley Tiner and Shakila Gibson. Center Elementary School principal Le Var Garner shared the following upon presenting the awards at the board meeting:

"It is with great pride that we recognize Haley Tiner as the recipient of the Golden Achievement Award for Certified Staff. As a dedicated Special Education co-teacher, Mrs. Tiner consistently goes above and beyond to support her students and ensure they are successful both academically and socially. She approaches each day with a genuine passion for meeting individual student needs, providing targeted support, and creating an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, encouraged, and capable of success. Her commitment to her students is evident in the way she advocates for them, celebrates their growth, and never hesitates to provide extra assistance when needed.

"Mrs. Tiner is also a true team player within her grade-level team. She collaborates effectively with colleagues, shares strategies, and offers thoughtful insights that strengthen instruction and promote student achievement. Her positive presence helps foster a culture of trust, cooperation, and continuous improvement. Her willingness to step up and lead professional development sessions for staff further highlights her leadership and dedication to our school community. She models best practices, openly shares her expertise, and encourages her peers to grow professionally, always with enthusiasm and professionalism.

"What truly sets Mrs. Tiner apart is her unwavering positivity. No matter the challenge, she approaches her work with a smile and an uplifting attitude that inspires those around her. Her energy, kindness, and strong work ethic make her a valued asset to our school and a role model for both staff and students. "Shakila Gibson, our dedicated school secretary, is truly deserving of the Golden Achievement Award for Classified Staff. Each day, she serves as the welcoming face of our school, creating a warm and inviting environment for staff, students, and parents from the moment they walk through the door. Mrs. Gibson consistently goes above and beyond her job responsibilities, ensuring that everyone she encounters feels supported, valued, and respected. Her willingness to help is unmatched, whether she is answering phones, assisting with paperwork, resolving concerns, or simply offering a kind word and a smile to brighten someone’s day.

"Her positive attitude and strong organizational skills play a vital role in keeping our school running smoothly. She handles daily tasks with efficiency and professionalism, often managing multiple responsibilities at once without hesitation. Teachers and staff can always depend on her for assistance, knowing she will respond with patience and a solution-focused mindset. She also shows exceptional care for our students, greeting them by name, encouraging them when they are having a tough day, and celebrating their successes both big and small.

"Parents, too, feel a sense of comfort when working with her. She listens attentively, provides clear information, and works diligently to ensure their concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
