Beginning this school year, Ware County Schools is implementing a K–12 electronic device procedure that requires students to keep personal devices such as phones, earbuds, smart watches, and fitness trackers off and stored from the first bell to the last.
We understand that families may wonder what this looks like in practice. Here’s what you can expect:
A Day Without Devices — What It Doesn’t Mean:
It doesn’t mean your child is unreachable. You can still contact the front office at any time, and we will promptly deliver urgent messages.
It doesn’t mean students lose connection. In fact, we believe this change will help students reconnect with one another face to face, without digital distractions.
It doesn’t mean classrooms are silent or strict. It means more meaningful engagement, discussion, and focus during instruction.
What It Does Mean:
Increased focus in class. Students are less likely to be distracted and more likely to stay engaged with learning activities.
Reduced social media stress. Taking a break from digital platforms during the day helps protect students’ emotional health.
Stronger communication skills. Students will have more opportunities to speak with one another, build friendships, and interact with teachers.
Consistent expectations across all schools. The procedure applies to all students in grades K–12, helping create clarity and fairness across the district.
Need to reach your child? Please contact your child’s school office directly. Our staff is happy to assist you and will make sure your child receives any important messages.
This procedure is about more than rules. It’s about helping our students focus, connect, and thrive. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to build healthier and more engaged learning environments.
Don’t forget—Open House is August 5, and the first day of school is August 8!
