Important Notice

As part of a districtwide effort to support student well-being and academic success, Ware County Schools is implementing a K–12 electronic device procedure for the 2025–2026 school year. Under this procedure, all students must keep personal electronic devices such as cell phones, earbuds, smart watches, and fitness trackers off and stored during the school day, from bell to bell.

This decision was not made lightly. It reflects growing concerns from educators, parents, and students about the impact of personal devices on learning, relationships, and mental health.

Why Are We Making This Change?

1. To Help Students Reconnect
Excessive device use during the day has made it harder for students to build real relationships. By encouraging more face-to-face interaction, we’re helping students rediscover the value of conversation, collaboration, and connection.

2. To Reduce Stress and Conflict
Social media drama, online bullying, and constant comparisons create anxiety for many students. Removing access during the school day gives students a break from the noise—and a chance to focus on being present.

3. To Strengthen Focus and Achievement
Personal devices are one of the biggest barriers to attention and academic engagement. We want classrooms to be spaces where students are free to focus, learn, and grow.

Students may still use their devices on the bus before and after school. Once they arrive on campus, however, all electronic devices must be turned off and stored out of sight.

This procedure is part of our commitment to providing safe, supportive, and distraction-free schools where every student can thrive.

You’ll find more details in your school’s handbook and at Open House on August 5, 2025.
