Ware County Schools proudly recognized Lauren Cox and Katrina McMillan as the district’s September Golden Achievement Award recipients during the September meeting of the Ware County Board of Education.
Lauren Cox was recognized as the Certified Golden Achievement Award recipient for her exceptional work as a special education teacher and co-teaching partner. Cox is known for truly knowing her students, their strengths, their needs, and when they need encouragement, additional support, or an extra push to reach their potential.
She meets students where they are while maintaining high expectations for where they can go. Her classroom also demonstrates what effective inclusion and co-teaching should look like. Rather than separate roles for general and special education, both teachers work as equal partners who are invested in the success of every student.
Cox's dedication not only strengthens student learning but also positively impacts the colleagues with whom she works, making her an outstanding example for educators throughout the district.
Katrina McMillan was recognized as the Classified Golden Achievement Award recipient for the compassion and commitment she demonstrates as the school nurse at Ware County High School.
McMillan is a trusted source of care and support for students, families, and staff. Whether she is caring for a student who is ill, reassuring a concerned parent, assisting a staff member, or simply providing comfort to a student who needs someone in that moment, she approaches her work with patience, kindness, and a genuine heart for service.
Her ability to see and care for the whole child has made her an important part of the Ware County High School family, and students know they can depend on her when they need help.
Ware County Schools congratulates Lauren Cox and Katrina McMillan on this well-deserved recognition and thanks them for the many ways they serve students and contribute to the success of our schools.
Congratulations to our September Golden Achievement Award recipients! We are WARE!
