WXMS Auction Info

As Ware County Schools prepares to open the new Waycross Middle School campus, the district is conducting an online auction of surplus furnishings and equipment from the current facility located at 700 Central Avenue.

For generations, the campus has served as an important part of the Waycross community. The building was home to Waycross High School before later serving as Waycross Middle School, creating decades of memories for students, staff, families, and alumni. As the district transitions to a modern learning environment, many furnishings and fixtures from the current facility are no longer needed and are being offered through a public online auction.

Items available include:

  • Electric retractable gymnasium bleachers

  • Upholstered auditorium seating

  • Acoustic wall panels

  • School lockers

  • Cafeteria tables and seating

  • Library shelving

  • Classroom tables, desks, and chairs

  • Additional institutional furnishings and equipment

The auction provides an opportunity for community members, alumni, local organizations, churches, and businesses to acquire items from a building that has played a significant role in local education history. At the same time, it allows the district to responsibly dispose of surplus assets that will not be utilized in the new facility.

Proceeds generated through the auction will be returned to the school district and used to support district operations and help offset costs associated with the transition to the new school. This process reflects the district's commitment to responsible stewardship of public resources.

The auction is being conducted by Wiregrass Auction Group and is open now.
