Gary Edholm

Ware County Schools is pleased to welcome Mr. Gary Edholm as the new Assistant Principal at Ware County Middle School.

While many educators follow a traditional path into the classroom, Mr. Edholm's journey took a few unexpected turns before bringing him to education. He originally entered college planning to become a teacher before pursuing a degree in culinary arts and building a successful career as an executive chef at several hotel and convention centers. After moving to Nahunta, starting a family, and putting down roots in Southeast Georgia, he returned to college and ultimately followed his original calling to become an educator.

Mr. Edholm first recognized that calling while studying for a trigonometry final in the University of Notre Dame library. As he worked through challenging problems alongside another student, he discovered the satisfaction that comes from helping someone understand a concept that once seemed difficult. That experience sparked a passion for teaching that has now grown into a career spanning more than two decades.

As an educational leader, Mr. Edholm describes himself as a servant leader who believes schools are strongest when students, staff, and families work together toward a common purpose.

"I choose to be a servant leader," he said. "My role is to support students, staff, and families while helping create an environment where everyone can succeed."

When asked what he hopes students feel when they arrive at school each day, his answer reflects his commitment to creating a positive school culture.

"I hope students feel a sense of security, community, and pride."

Mr. Edholm believes that great schools share one important characteristic: a strong sense of purpose and community. He also sees family engagement as an essential part of student success.

"Learning and growing can be a winding, bumpy road," he said. "It's a journey best taken with trusted partners."

Outside of school, Mr. Edholm enjoys painting, photography, following the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and exploring interests that range from financial markets to landscape art. He is also known among friends and colleagues for his enthusiasm, positive outlook, and frequent encouragement of others with a simple phrase:

"Let's go!"

Ware County Schools is excited to welcome Mr. Edholm to the Ware County Middle School team and looks forward to the leadership, experience, and dedication he will bring to the school community.

Welcome to WCMS, Mr. Edholm!
