As the 2025–2026 school year comes to a close, Ware County Schools would like to remind families that McKinney-Vento eligibility must be reviewed and reevaluated each school year. Services provided during the current school year, including transportation and other supports, do not automatically continue into the 2026–2027 school year.
The McKinney-Vento Act provides educational support and services for children and youth experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Families who are living in temporary housing, sharing housing due to hardship, residing in motels or shelters, or facing other unstable living situations may qualify for assistance.
Families who believe they may qualify for McKinney-Vento services for the upcoming school year should contact Sandra Osburn, LMSW, School Social Work Coordinator and McKinney-Vento Liaison, after July 23, 2026, to discuss their circumstances and determine eligibility.
