Waycross Middle School was recognized during the recent Ware County Board of Education meeting as two staff members received the district’s Golden Achievement Awards.
The following individuals were honored:
Certified Golden Achievement Award: Mrs. Alesia Gibson
Classified Golden Achievement Award: Ms. Shelly Bristow
In his nomination remarks, Principal David Hitt recognized Coach Alesia Gibson for her outstanding leadership and dedication to students. Coach Gibson serves as an 8th grade co-taught Language Arts teacher, 8th grade team leader, and coach for multiple athletic programs. Mr. Hitt praised her ability to build lasting relationships with students and described her as a premier teacher-leader within the school.
“Her leadership throughout our district is exceptional, but where she truly makes the most impact is in the lifelong relationships she builds with students,” Hitt shared during the presentation.
Ms. Shelly Bristow was recognized for her versatility, dedication, and consistent support of students and staff across multiple roles throughout her career at Waycross Middle School. Mr. Hitt noted her service in self-contained classrooms, general education support, the Media Center, and leadership of the school’s athletic concession operations.
“As a principal, I cannot begin to tell you how much it means to have someone that shows up every day, finds a way to make the mission happen, and does so with grace and excellence,” Hitt stated.
Ware County Schools congratulates Coach Gibson and Ms. Bristow on this well-deserved recognition and thanks them for their continued service to students and the Waycross Middle School community.
