Ware County High School is inviting rising ninth grade girls and their families to attend an informational meeting about opportunities to join the school’s growing and successful girls wrestling program.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 8, from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Ware County High School Cafeteria and is open to students interested in learning more about the sport, meeting coaches, and hearing about summer opportunities and expectations for the upcoming season.
Girls wrestling continues to grow across Georgia, and Ware County has built a strong tradition of excellence since the Georgia High School Association recognized girls wrestling as an official sport in 2018. The program has produced seven area champions, seven state placers, and two individual state champions, reflecting a culture built on respect, commitment, discipline, hard work, and sacrifice.
The informational session will provide students with an introduction to the program, details on off-season opportunities, and insights into what to expect as a student-athlete. Summer information will be shared during the meeting, and students interested in participating must get a sports physical.
Coaches encourage students of all experience levels to attend, whether they are experienced athletes or simply curious about trying something new.
“Girls wrestling offers opportunities to build confidence, resilience, leadership, and lasting friendships,” shared Coach Williamson. “It is a sport that challenges students mentally and physically while helping them grow as competitors and as individuals.”
Students interested in being part of a program with a strong competitive tradition and a supportive team culture are encouraged to attend and explore what girls wrestling at Ware County High School has to offer.
