In her nomination speech, Principal Jeri Ray noted the following:
"We are proud to announce that the Wacona Certified Golden Achievement Award is being presented to one of our veteran educators, Mrs. Lacey Gruver. As a 4th grade math, science, and social studies teacher in her 15th year of education, Mrs. Gruver has made a significant impact on our school community. Stepping into Mrs. Gruver’s classroom, students can instantly feel the energy and motivation she brings, inspiring her students to engage wholeheartedly. The enthusiasm they show supports the welcoming and loving atmosphere she fosters, ensuring that each student feels appreciated and cherished.
"Beyond her classroom responsibilities, Mrs. Gruver actively participates in several after-school activities, including serving as one of our Academic and Georgia Quiz Bowl coaches and the PTO school representative. Additionally, Mrs. Gruver holds the position of lead teacher for the 4th grade. Her leadership qualities shine as she mentors her colleagues with compassion, insight, and a passion for learning. Her dedication to leading by example and providing support and guidance is exceptional. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Gruver for her dedication to excellence, her commitment to her students, and her remarkable leadership. We are incredibly fortunate to have her as part of the Wacona Hornet family!"
"We are delighted to announce that Mrs. Ginnie White is the recipient of Wacona’s Classified Golden Achievement Award. Mrs. White serves as the secretary for our counselors, where she manages the daily attendance and ensures the data is accurate for Wacona. She collaborates closely with parents to assist with obtaining excuses and scheduling attendance meetings. She encourages student attendance by recognizing monthly classroom attendance winners, as well as monthly student perfect attendance. Mrs. White also works closely with First Methodist Church to oversee the L.A.M.B.S. Bag Ministry at Wacona. This ministry provides food for school-aged children to ensure they have decent meals over weekends and holiday breaks. In addition to these tasks, Mrs. White assists Unison counselors, organizes the Christmas assistance programs, maintains the Hornet of the Week recognition program, and she oversees the distribution of school-wide information.
"Each day, Mrs. White goes above and beyond her responsibilities, consistently putting in extra effort in her work. She is always willing to help students and staff in many ways throughout the day. Mrs. White leads by example through her tireless work ethic and her readiness to assist others. She is self-motivated, requiring no constant supervision to complete her tasks. Mrs. White is dependable, professional, and a dedicated worker. We are truly grateful to have her at Wacona!"
