Congrats

Ware County High School junior Jarrett S. has been chosen to serve on Georgia School Superintendent Richard Woods’ 2025–2026 Student Advisory Council.

Jarrett is one of only 79 students selected statewide from more than 1,200 applicants. Throughout the school year, he will join other high school representatives to share feedback on state education policies, discuss classroom experiences, and participate in service projects that benefit schools and communities across the state of Georgia.

The Student Advisory Council gives students a direct voice in shaping educational decisions. Council members meet with Superintendent Woods several times a year to discuss what’s working well in public schools and where improvements can be made. Members also design and complete service projects that promote leadership, teamwork, and community engagement.

Superintendent Woods stated that the council plays a crucial role in keeping student voices at the center of educational policy. “These outstanding young leaders bring experiences and perspectives from every corner of our state,” he noted. “Their viewpoints and ideas guide our work to ensure every student’s success.”

Jarrett will represent Ware County Schools and the Okefenokee RESA region when the council convenes for its first meeting in November at the Georgia Department of Education in Atlanta.
