Collins Honored

Ware County Schools proudly congratulates Mr. Matt Collins, Assistant Principal at Ware County High School and the district's Athletic Director, on being named the Georgia Athletic Directors Association Region 1-4A Athletic Director of the Year.

Superintendent Dr. Lynn Barber commended Coach Collins during the presentation of his certificate:

“I have known Coach Collins as a teacher and in his current role, and I can attest that he is student-focused in everything he does. Not only does he support ALL of our athletic programs, coaches, and athletes, he also ensures that our fans are informed and engaged. From morning radio announcements to daily schedule emails, he makes certain the Gator Nation knows what’s happening.”

WCHS Head Baseball Coach Jamie Ammons also reflected on the impact of Coach Collins’s leadership:

“When I arrived in 2017, Matt was one of the first to take me under his wing and show me how things are done in the Swamp. He has never asked anyone to do something he wouldn’t do himself. Tireless behind the scenes, always visible at events, and genuinely invested in the academic, athletic, and personal growth of our student-athletes—Matt is shaping a positive athletic culture the entire community can be proud of. For someone so often found celebrating others, it’s an honor to celebrate him today.”

Please join us in congratulating Coach Collins on this well-deserved recognition and thanking him for his tireless work to build and sustain the Gator athletic tradition of excellence!
