Ware County High School graduate Olivia Thrift was recently named Southeast Region Youth Apprenticeship Completer of the Year at the 2025 GACTE Conference in Athens. She received a $250 scholarship from Georgia's Work-Based Learning State Executive Board and is being presented with an additional $250 from Ware County's Work-Based Learning Program.
A 2021 honors graduate active in HOSA, BETA, NHS, and varsity cheer, she earned CNA and EKG certifications before completing hands-on rotations at Batten's Pharmacy through Ware County's Youth Apprenticeship Program and becoming a Registered Pharmacy Technician. Now a pharmacy intern at the University of Georgia on track to earn her PharmD in May 2027, Olivia embodies the success of Georgia's career-pathway initiatives.
