certified golden achievement winner
Congratulations to Misty Thrift of Ware County Middle School, the Certified Golden Achievement recipient for October 2023. Upon presenting the award, Principal Shelli Tyre shared the following:

“G is for the Gumption she exemplifies each and every day. When some of us would wallow in
self pity and share our stories of how terrible we feel after a treatment, this true Gator schedules
her appointments around her teaching schedule, comes to school with a smile every day, even
on the worst days.

“A is for the Abundant Activities that are always taking place in her classroom. Students love to
go to her room each day to see what cool learning activity she has researched and put together
to help her students grasp and remember the content. She is always finding ways to make
Reading and Science come alive for her students.

“T is for Technology, her favorite thing! She has helped me a time or two in this area, even one
time instructing me to lean out the window to get the reception I needed. She thrives on
discovering the next best thing that will help her students connect with the curriculum and one
another and invests her own dollars to do so.

“O is for Others, for this is who she is always thinking of. She serves as an official mentor to
some of our newer staff members, and an unofficial mentor to many, many more. She is willing
to help anyone with anything, and always with a smile and a kind word.

“R is for Relationships. She realizes that students don't care how much we know until they know
how much we care about them, and that shows. She strives to get to know her students, their
interests, and their needs so that she can connect uniquely with each one.

“Ms. Misty Thrift is a true Gator in every sense of the word, and she can often be spotted actually dressed as a gator at school. She loves her students, her school, her school system, and her community, and we are blessed to have her as Ware County Middle School's Certified Golden Achievement winner.”
