Several current and former students were honored at the September 2023 Board Meeting for academic excellence.
The following students were recognized by the 2023 College Board National Recognition Program, receiving the National Rural and Small Town Award for having a GPA AOF 3.5 or higher and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMQST, PSAT 10, and/or AP Exams: Cason Z., Connor C., Joy L., Lauren H., McKensie T., Natalie B., Sianna G., and Skylar S.
Matthew M. was recognized for being a National Beta Club winner, having received 1st place in the nation on the Social Studies academic test. He is pictured with board member and former Social Studies teacher Buster Tyre who was on hand to congratulate Matthew on this extraordinary achievement.
Aniston D., Anniston G., Joy L., and Erin M. also received 1st place in Leadership Exhibition at the National Beta Club Convention for the Lead Outside the Box project.
Recent graduates Erin Meeks and Abigail Strickland could not be present for the meeting since they are away at college, but they were recognized for AP Capstone Diploma and AP Seminar and Research respectively. Abigail’s mother, Waycross Middle teacher Dr. Jennifer Strickland, received the certificate on Abigail’s behalf.
