Congrats

Ware County Schools was honored to welcome State School Superintendent Richard Woods on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, for a special recognition event held at Waycross Middle School.

During his visit, Superintendent Woods presented John Hancock, Literacy, and Math achievement banners to schools across the district in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement and continued commitment to student success.

The event brought together students, teachers, school leaders, district staff, and members of the Board of Education to celebrate the hard work taking place in classrooms throughout Ware County.

John Hancock Award Recipients:

  • Memorial Drive Elementary School

  • Ruskin Elementary School

  • Wacona Elementary School

  • Waresboro Elementary School

  • Williams Heights Elementary School

In addition, several schools were recognized for earning Literacy Leader and Masters of Mathematics distinctions for the second consecutive year, demonstrating sustained excellence:

  • Ware County Middle School – Masters of Mathematics

  • Waresboro Elementary School – Literacy Leaders

  • Waycross Middle School – Masters of Mathematics

Previously recognized schools brought their banners to the event, symbolizing continued achievement and a shared commitment to growth across the district.
