In an effort to preserve academic continuity in the face of future weather-related disruptions, the Ware County Board of Education has approved changes to the 2025–2026 school calendar. The update designates specific days during Fall Break and Thanksgiving Break as potential instructional days.
These dates will only be used if the district experiences significant instructional time loss, such as this past school year, when Hurricanes Debby and Helene, along with a winter snowstorm, led to the cancellation of 20 school days.
The decision gives the district greater flexibility to respond proactively to future events without needing to make emergency calendar changes later in the year. If any of the designated days are activated as make-up days, families and staff will be notified as early as possible.
The updated calendar is now available at www.ware.k12.ga.us. Families are encouraged to review the new version and plan accordingly.
