As students return this fall, the Ware County School District is launching a powerful new safety initiative designed to enhance school security and foster greater peace of mind for families and staff.
The district is implementing SchoolDog, an innovative software platform that strengthens human awareness and accountability in daily school operations. While modern security tools—such as surveillance systems and alarms—play a vital role in campus protection, Ware County leaders emphasize that human attentiveness and consistent oversight remain the most effective tools in preventing school safety incidents.
The SchoolDog School Safety and Facility Data Platform empowers principals, assistant principals, and school resource officers (SROs) to actively monitor, document, and improve adherence to school safety protocols. With a user-friendly phone app and desktop interface, the platform enables staff to log real-time safety observations—ensuring regular reviews, early detection of vulnerabilities, and continuous improvement throughout the school year.
“Our community trusts us to do everything we can to keep students safe,” said Dr. Lynn Barber, Superintendent. “The addition of SchoolDog allows us to be even more proactive, consistent, and transparent in our safety efforts. It’s not just about responding to emergencies—it’s about preventing them.”
In recent years, Ware County Schools has made significant investments in school safety, including:
Secure entry systems
Increased SRO staffing
Panic alert badges
Weapons-screening technology
The addition of SchoolDog enhances these measures by reinforcing a culture of vigilance, recognizing safety compliance, and surfacing concerns before they escalate into crises.
By combining technology, training, and a proactive mindset, Ware County Schools is committed to keeping students and staff safe—every day, in every building.
