Kindergarten and first grade students at Memorial Drive Elementary participated in radKIDS training, led by school counselor Tiffany Warren with assistance from Detective Taylor Luciano of the Waycross Police Department, Community Awareness and Education Coordinator Zina Ponsell of Magnolia House, and P.E. Coach Rebecca Kirkland. Through radKIDS, students gained life skills to empower them to protect themselves from dangerous situations. They learned defense moves to stop someone from hurting them, how to use their voice, how to call 911, inside and outside safety, the importance of having a plan, and just how special they are. Dr. Shawn Benefield is principal at Memorial Drive Elementary School.
