Gator Athletics 1/25/2024:
JV Tennis welcomed the Indians of Charlton County to WCHS. The Girls and Boys both defeated the Indians in 5 - 0 sets. Also, our Gator Guns Rifle team played host to the Brunswick Pirates. The Gators Guns defeated the Pirates by a score of 1141 with 56 center shots to Brunswick’s 1094 with 37 center shots. Top Gators were Neve Smoak with a score of 288 with 19 center shots, Austin Griffis with a score of 288 with 14 center shots, Gabrielle Howard with a score of 283 with 10 center shots and Makayla Whitley with a score of 282 with 13 center shots. Congratulations to all of these Gator Gun Top Gators. GO Gators!

Our 9th Grade Basketball Teams went on the road to Brunswick to take on the Pirates. The 9th Girls fell in a tough battle by a score of 50 - 35. The 9th Grade Boys also fell in a hard fault battle by a score of 64 - 58.

Athletic Results 1/23/2024:
Swim traveled over to Appling County and finished 4th in the field by scoring 46 points. Stella Kallay won the 200 Free with a time of 2:37.74, Joshua Smith won the Boys 500 Yard Free with a time of 5:59.39, Samantha Savinon - Rios won the Girls 500 Free with a time of 8:13.63, Matthew McIntire won the Boys 100 Yard Back with a time of 1:06.42, Sophie Cochran won the Girls 100 Yard Breast with a time of 1:18.11, and finally the Ware Girls 400 yard Free won the Girls 400 yard Free Relay with a time of 5:20.55. Basketball hosted Bradwell Institute in a Region 1 - 5A showdown and came away 3 victories tonight in The Gator Den. The JV Girls defeated Bradwell by a score of 44 - 39 and are now 11 - 5. The Varsity Girls got the victory by a score of 43 - 31 and are now sitting at 16 - 5 overall and 6 - 1 in Region play, and finally the Boys came away with the nightcap victory by a score of 62 - 55 and are 19 - 8 overall and 5 - 2 in Region 1 - 5A. For the Girls, Coco Moody was the player of the game with four three point shots, 100% from the free throw line, and a total of 14 points. The Boys player of the game was William Simmons with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and al 100% from the free throw line.

Athletic Results Saturday 1/20/2024: The Gator Basketball Teams had yet another Region 1 - 5A matchup as they hosted the Blue Devils of Statesboro in the Gator Den. The JV defeated the Blue Devils by a score of 50 - 21, The JV Boys fell to the Blue Devils after a buzzer beater by a score of 28 - 26, The Varsity Girls defeated the Blue Devils by a score of 51 - 44, and the Varsity Boys fell in a nail biter by a score of 53 - 52. Athletic Results 1/19/2024:
-Swim - The girls Swim team finished first with 35 points ahead of Appling withe 29 points, Pierce with 15 points, Jeff - Davis with 6 points, and Wayne with 4 points. The Boys finished third with 12 points behind Jeff - Davis with 25 points, Pierce with 18 points and ahead of Wayne with 12 points, and Appling with 5 points. The Region 1 - 5A Championships will take place Saturday 1/20/2024 over in Coffee County at SGSC. Pictured below are the Senior Lady Gator Swimmers. The Boys were not in attendance.
-Basketball: JV Girls defeat Jenkins by a score of 35 - 23; JV Boys defeat Jenkins by a score of 28 - 22; Varsity Girls defeat Jenkins by a score of 53 - 34. The Varsity Boys defeated Jenkins by a score of 65 - 64 in overtime.

-JV Girls defeated Lowndes by a score of 51 - 24. The JV Girls are now sitting with an 8 - 2 Record.
-The 9th Grade Boys defeated Lowndes by a score of 33 - 31. The 9th Grade Boys now sport a 6 - 1 Record.
-The JV Girls and Boys will be squaring off with Jenkins tomorrow on the road with a 4:00 / 5:00 PM start time.

Basketball heads over to Lowndes County to take on the Vikings. JV Girls tipoff at 5:00 PM while the 9th Grade Boys will follow. Get over to Lowndes if you can and support the Gator Basketball programs. Go Gators!

Athletic Results 1/17/2024
-The Gator Rifle team traveled over to Glynn Academy for a match. The Gator Guns came away with the victory by a score of 1151 with 64 center shots - 1086 with 35 center shots. Top Gators were Makayla Whitley scoring 294 with 19 center shots, Austin Griffis with a score of 293 with 19 center shots and Gabrielle Howard scoring 284 with 14 center shots. Makayla punched her ticket to the state meet and joined Austin Griffis who previously qualified. Congratulations to all of the Gator Guns on an outstanding meet.

Athletic Results 1/13/2024:
The Gator Wrestling team competed hard and finished third in the Region 1 - 5A Dual Championships in Greenbrier. Individual Results / Team Results / Photos to come. The Gator Basketball Teams took on Region 1 - 5A rival Coffee County and came away with 4 victories while celebrating Senior Night and Rec. Night in the Gator Den. The JV Girls defeated Coffee by a score of 44 - 18, The JV Boys defeated Coffee by a score of 47 - 35, The Varsity Girls defeated Coffee by a score of 53 - 42, and the Varsity Boys defeated Coffee by a score of 63 - 49. We will have more to come later on these games as well. We definitely want to thank Ross Bedford and the WCHS stream team as well as 912Sports for covering all of the games. Also, a huge shoutout to the PACKED Gator Den at Ware County High School. Go Gators!

*The Gator Guns Rifle Team traveled over to Statesboro to take on the Blue Devils. The Gator Guns came away with the victory by a score of 1124 with 38 center shots to Statesboro’s 1117 with 49 center shots. Top Gators for the Gator Guns was Makayla Whitley with a score of 286, Austin Griffis with a score of 285, Neve Smoak with a score of 278, and Gabrielle Howard with a score of 275.
*Our Gator Basketball teams were again on the road in Region 1 - 5A action as they traveled to Evans, GA to take on Greenbrier High School. The Lady Gators defeated the Wolf Pack by a score of 48 - 36. The Lady Gators are now 12 - 5 overall and 2 - 1 in Region 1 - 5A. The Varsity Boys also defeated the Wolf Pack in the Region 1 - 5A showdown by a score of 89 - 69 with Jarvis Wright scoring an incredible 47 points, Kevin Ramsey with an impressive 21 points, and Darius Ward coming in with 10 points. The Boys are now 10 - 7 overall and 2 - 1 in Region 1 - 5A. The Gator Wrestling team will be in action tomorrow in Greenbrier for the Region 1 - 5A Area Dual Championships. Matches will start around noon as weigh ins are set for 11:00 AM. Our Basketball Teams will be in Region action again as we host the Trojans of Coffee County in the Gator Den for Senior Night and Rec Night. JV Girls will tipoff at 4:00 PM. Jv Boys will Follow. Varsity Girls will begin at 6:00 PM while the Varsity Boys will tipoff at 7:40 PM. Tickets are set at $7.00 and can be purchased online at gofan.co or at the gate. JV Girls Basketball defeated Jenkins by a score of37 - 37 and are now 6 - 2. JV Boys Basketball defeated Jenkins by a score of 28 - 25 and are now 6 - 1. Varsity Girls Basketball defeated Jenkins in a Region 1 - 5A Showdown by a score of 47 - 40 and are now 11 - 5 overall and 1 - 1 in Region 1 - 5A. Varsity Boys Basketball defeated Jenkins in a Region 1 - 5A showdown by a score of 58 - 50 and are now 9 - 7 overall and 1 - 1 in Region 1 - 5A. Next up for the Gator Basketball Teams will be Coffee in another Region 1 - 5A matchup on Tuesday 1/9/2024 in the Gator Den. JV Girls will tipoff at 4:00 PM, Varsity Girls at 6:00 PM, and the Varsity Boys will finish the evening off at 7:30 PM. Tickets will be available online at gofan.co as well as at the gate and are set for $7.00. In Rifle action, the Gator Guns defeated Benedictine by a score of 1142 with 63 Center Shots to Benedictine's 1112 with 52 Center Shots. Top Gators for tonight's were Austin Griffis with a score of 289, Makayla Whitley with a score of 289, Gabbie Howard with a score of 283, and Neve Smoak with a score of 281. Next up for the Rifle team will be Monday 1/8/2024 as they welcome the Bradwell Tigers to the range for a 5:00 PM match time. The Gator Wrestling team was in action at the Packer Classic in Moultrie today and will continue tomorrow. Results will come at the conclusion of the tournament tomorrow.

On Thursday, Coach Lingenfelter and her staff carried the Girls Basketball Team over to Moultrie for the Christmas Break Tournament. The Girls defeated Rickards out of Florida by a score of 65 - 47.
Coach Williams and his staff took his Gator Basketball team to Atlanta to take on Hillgrove in the Tournament of Champions. The Boys competed against top ranked Hillgrove and fell in a battle 70 - 67.
All of Gators Athletics have had a busy and productive Christmas Break and can't wait to see what 2024 brings.
