
Gator Athletic Results 2/7/2024: Ware County High School's athletic teams had an eventful day on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, with noteworthy achievements in both swimming and JV tennis.
Sophie Cochran made a splash at the GHSA 5A State Championship swim meet, posting an impressive time of 26.38 in the 50 free. While victory eluded the swim team, the boys' relay squads, featuring standout performers Joshua Smith, Matthew McIntire, Evan Chaney, and Matthew Davis, etched their names with a new school record set by the 200 freestyle relay team.
On the tennis courts, the JV teams had competitive matchups against Glynn Academy. The JV Girls finished with a score of 1-4, while the JV Boys put up a great fight but ultimately fell short with a score of 2-3.

Athletic Events 2/7/2024: Swim @ GHSA State Swim Meet (Georgia Tech Aquatics Center) Schedule is as follows: SWIMMING – All Swimming Events Will be Conducted at Georgia Tech
Wednesday, February 7, 2024 – 1-3A and 4-5A Swimming
7:30 am – 9:20 am – 1-5A Swimming Warmup
9:30 am – 1:00 pm – 1-5A Swimming Prelims
4:30 pm – 6:00 pm –1-3A and 4-5A Swimming Warmup
6:00 pm – 9:30 pm –1-3A and 4-5A Swimming Finals
Prelims for all 1-5A schools will be conducted in two 10 lane courses. The boys events will swim in the west pool (by the main scoreboard) and the girls will swim in the east pool by the diving well). Finals will be swum in two 10 lane courses simultaneously, the 4-5A schools will swim the east pool, the 1-3A schools will swim in the west pool.
JV Tennis will travel to Glynn for a 4:00 PM start time.

Athletics Results 2/6/2024:
-Soccer traveled over to Camden County to take on the Wildcats. The Lady Gators fell to Camden County by a score of 0 - 8. The Lady Gators gave up some early goals and were never able to recover. Molly Chinn’s midfield performance earned her Woman of the Match Awards. The Lady Gators are now 1 - 1 overall. Our Boys Team fell to the Wildcats by a score of 0 - 3. Berron Bennett earned the player of the game for the Gators for his defensive efforts.
-Girls Tennis team fell to Bacon by a set score of 1 - 4 while our Boys Tennis Team defeated Bacon by a set score of 3 - 2. For the Girls our Doubles Team came away with the victory with the duo of Kamiyah Green and Paislee Wildes, while the Boys came away with individual victories from James Willingham and both doubles teams consisting of the duo of Tyler Monroe and JV Manabat and Nick Simmons and Cash Carter.
-Coach Kimberly Nettles and Coach Maurice England carried the Gator Guns over to Savannah to take on the Windsor Forest Knights. The Gators Guns defeated the Knights by a score of 1141 with 58 center shots to the Knights 997 with 20 center shots. Top Gators for the evening were Makayla Whitley with a score of 290, Austin Griffis with a score of 286, also scoring 286 was Gabrielle Howard; Neve Smoak scored 279, while Harper Petty scored 278. Macy Tatum scored 268, and Shonda Mosely scored 262. Congrats to these Gator shooters on an awesome meet. Go Gators!

Athletic Results 2/5/2024
The Gator Soccer teams hosted Brantley County. Our Lady Gators defeated the Herons by a score of 3 - 0. Goal scorers were Raleigh Tuen, Arianna Davis, and Qetzi Sanchez. Madison Sweat’s defensive performance earned her the Woman of the Match Honors. In Boys action, the Gators defeated the Herons by a score of 4 - 1 in a very wet match. Thomas Hoyt scored two, Yair Dixon scored one, and Jergeon Sepulvada sored one. Thomas Hoyt was the player of the match.

Today's Soccer Games Vs. Brantley County High School will be played at Memorial Stadium. Tickets are set for $7.00 and can be purchased at the gate or gofan.co. The Varsity Girls game will begin at 5:00 PM and the Varsity Boys game will begin at 7:00 PM. We hope to see everyone in attendance. Athletic Results 2/3/2024:
The Gator Wrestling team headed over to Coffee County to compete in the Region 1 - 5A Traditional Tournament. The Gators finished second with 234 points to Coffee's 250.5. Individual Results are as follows: Steve Valdez - 3rd, Jordan Maxwell - 2nd, Damarion Zanders 3rd, Rodrigo Reyes - 2nd, Evan Thomas - 4th, Jaden McKelvin - 1st, Kayden Drury - 3rd, Zy Ramsey - 2nd, Gunter Fore - 2nd, Cameron Hambrick - 1st (Rgion Champ) Wyatt Deal - 1st (Region Champ) Noah Lucas - 2nd, Jalen Hampton - 4th, Jebare George - 1st (Region Champ). All 14 weight classes qualified for next week's GHSA 5A East Sectional. Congratulations to coach Eichfeld, his staff, and athletes on a great tournament. Go Gators!

Athletic Results 2/2/2024: *Rifle - Ware defeats Southeast Bulloch by a score of 1160 with 69 center shots to 1087 with 36 center shots. Top Gators were Gabrielle Howard scoring 293 with 22 center shots, Austin Griffis with a score of 291 with 20 center shots, Makayla Whitley scoring 291 with 17 center shots, and Neve Smoak scoring 185 with 10 center shots. Gabrielle Howard was able to punch her ticket to the state tournament with her highest score of the season. *Basketball had a tough day . The JV Boys defeated the Blue Devils by a score of 44 - 39 , the Varsity Girls fell to Statesboro by a score of 61 - 30, and the Varsity Boys fell to Statesboro by a score of 53 - 51. *Lady Gators Wrestling competed in Tifton in the Area Tournament. The Girls came away with a second place seven of our girls qualified for the GHSA State Sectional Tournament. Madison Hanchey placed 6th in the 105 lb. weight class, Nadya Ellis placed 3rd at 110, Emalee Hendrix finished 6th at 115, Emalee Haddock was 6th in the 120lb weight class, Samantha Savinon - Rios took 3rd at 135, Delaney James finished second at 140, Cambria McLaughlin was 4th at 155, Kira Brown defeated the field at 170 and was first, Destiny Allgood was 4th at 190, and rounding out the tournament was the 2nd place finished by Shadalia Allgood at 235. Congratulations to all of these girls for an unbelievable tournament and good luck to those advancing to the GHSA East Sectional.

The Gator Tennis teams traveled over to Glynn Academy to take on the Terrors. Our Varsity girls fell in a 0 - 5 set while our Varsity boys fell in a 1 - 4 set. James Willingham came away with his set win.

Basketball:
-The Varsity Girls defeated Greenbrier by a score of 68 - 33 bringing their overall record to 18 - 5 and 8 - 1 in Region play. Trinity Jenkins was the Player of the game scoring 13 points in the evening.
-The Varsity Boys defeated Greenbrier by a score of 70 - 56 bringing their record to 15 - 8 and 7 - 2 in region 1 - 5A. Jarvis Wright was the player of the game scoring 17 points.
The Gators will conclude Region play this week on Friday in Statesboro. Details to come.

Athletic Results 1/26/2024: Swim: Results to come! Varsity Soccer had the first scrimmage game of the season by heading on the road to Valdosta to take on the Wildcats. Varsity Girls fell by a score of 9 - 2. Varsity Boys ended in a deadlock tie at 1 a piece. Gator Guns Rifle Team hosted St. Vincent's The Gator Gun pulled off the victory by a score of 1149 with 54 center shots to St. Vincent's 1104 with 40 center shots. Top Gators were Austin Griffis with a score of 291, Neve Smoak with a score of 289, Makayla Whitley with a score of 288, and Shonda Moseley with score of 281. The Gator Basketball Teams travelled over to Coffee County for four games against the Trojans. The JV Girls defeated Coffee by a score of 42 - 16 , The JV Boys fell to Coffee by a score of 52 - 41, The Varsity Girls defeated Coffee by a score of 51 - 36, and the Varsity Boys defeated Coffee by a score of 68 - 41. Gator Athletics 1/25/2024:
JV Tennis welcomed the Indians of Charlton County to WCHS. The Girls and Boys both defeated the Indians in 5 - 0 sets. Also, our Gator Guns Rifle team played host to the Brunswick Pirates. The Gators Guns defeated the Pirates by a score of 1141 with 56 center shots to Brunswick’s 1094 with 37 center shots. Top Gators were Neve Smoak with a score of 288 with 19 center shots, Austin Griffis with a score of 288 with 14 center shots, Gabrielle Howard with a score of 283 with 10 center shots and Makayla Whitley with a score of 282 with 13 center shots. Our 9th Grade Basketball Teams went on the road to Brunswick to take on the Pirates. The 9th Girls fell in a tough battle by a score of 50 - 35. The 9th Grade Boys also fell in a hard fault battle by a score of 64 - 58.

Athletic Results 1/23/2024:
Swim traveled over to Appling County and finished 4th in the field by scoring 46 points. Stella Kallay won the 200 Free with a time of 2:37.74, Joshua Smith won the Boys 500 Yard Free with a time of 5:59.39, Samantha Savinon - Rios won the Girls 500 Free with a time of 8:13.63, Matthew McIntire won the Boys 100 Yard Back with a time of 1:06.42, Sophie Cochran won the Girls 100 Yard Breast with a time of 1:18.11, and finally the Ware Girls 400 yard Free won the Girls 400 yard Free Relay with a time of 5:20.55. Basketball hosted Bradwell Institute in a Region 1 - 5A showdown and came away 3 victories tonight in The Gator Den. The JV Girls defeated Bradwell by a score of 44 - 39 and are now 11 - 5. The Varsity Girls got the victory by a score of 43 - 31 and are now sitting at 16 - 5 overall and 6 - 1 in Region play, and finally the Boys came away with the nightcap victory by a score of 62 - 55 and are 19 - 8 overall and 5 - 2 in Region 1 - 5A. For the Girls, Coco Moody was the player of the game with four three point shots, 100% from the free throw line, and a total of 14 points. The Boys player of the game was William Simmons with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and al 100% from the free throw line.

Athletic Results Saturday 1/20/2024: The Gator Basketball Teams had yet another Region 1 - 5A matchup as they hosted the Blue Devils of Statesboro in the Gator Den. The JV defeated the Blue Devils by a score of 50 - 21, The JV Boys fell to the Blue Devils after a buzzer beater by a score of 28 - 26, The Varsity Girls defeated the Blue Devils by a score of 51 - 44, and the Varsity Boys fell in a nail biter by a score of 53 - 52. Athletic Results 1/19/2024:
-Swim - The girls Swim team finished first with 35 points ahead of Appling withe 29 points, Pierce with 15 points, Jeff - Davis with 6 points, and Wayne with 4 points. The Boys finished third with 12 points behind Jeff - Davis with 25 points, Pierce with 18 points and ahead of Wayne with 12 points, and Appling with 5 points. The Region 1 - 5A Championships will take place Saturday 1/20/2024 over in Coffee County at SGSC. Pictured below are the Senior Lady Gator Swimmers. The Boys were not in attendance.
-Basketball: JV Girls defeat Jenkins by a score of 35 - 23; JV Boys defeat Jenkins by a score of 28 - 22; Varsity Girls defeat Jenkins by a score of 53 - 34. The Varsity Boys defeated Jenkins by a score of 65 - 64 in overtime.
