The Ware County Lady Gators made their final home appearance of the season a memorable one Thursday night, sweeping Sumter County and Groves in the Gator Den as the program celebrated Senior Night.
It was a strong finish at home for the Lady Gators, who took care of business in both varsity matches while also taking time to recognize the seniors who have contributed so much to the volleyball program.
Ware County opened the evening against Sumter County and quickly settled into the match. The Lady Gators controlled play and finished off Sumter County in straight sets to pick up their first victory of the night.
The Lady Gators followed that performance with another strong showing against Region 1-AAAAA opponent Groves. Ware County once again won in straight sets, completing a varsity sweep on Senior Night.
The JV teams also had a successful night in the Gator Den.
JV Gold faced the Groves JV squad and earned a straight-set victory. The evening concluded with JV Green and JV Gold meeting in an intrasquad match. After JV Gold won their meeting earlier in the week, JV Green answered Thursday night by earning a straight-set victory of its own.
Celebrating the Seniors
While there was plenty to celebrate on the court, Thursday night was about much more than wins and losses.
Senior Night provided Ware County an opportunity to recognize the Lady Gators who have represented the volleyball program throughout their high school careers. Their commitment, leadership and countless hours of work have helped shape the program and set an example for the younger players who will follow them.
For the seniors, Thursday marked their final opportunity to compete in the Gator Den wearing the Green and Gold in front of the home crowd. They were able to close that chapter with two varsity victories and one more night together on their home court.
Ware County Volleyball thanks each senior for the time, effort and leadership she has given to the Lady Gators program and wishes them continued success in whatever comes next.
Once a Lady Gator, always a Lady Gator.
