The Ware County Gators and Lady Gators Cross Country teams turned in a strong day on the course Thursday, September 24, as they traveled to Brunswick for their latest meet of the 2026 season.
Leading the way for the Gators was Damari Bennett, who raced to a sixth-place overall finish with a time of 17:51. Bennett’s performance highlighted a successful afternoon for the Ware County boys.
Yaneli Martinez continued to lead the Lady Gators with another impressive outing. Martinez crossed the finish line in 20:35, earning an eighth-place overall finish.
The Brunswick course provided favorable conditions for Ware County's runners. The flat course wound through a wooded setting, and nearly perfect weather helped produce fast times throughout the meet. The Gators and Lady Gators took full advantage, with almost every Ware County runner setting a new personal record.
The continued improvement was an encouraging sign for Ware County as the teams move deeper into the season and continue working toward their postseason goals.
