The Ware County Lady Gators Softball Team hosted the Wayne County Lady Yellow Jackets on Thursday, September 17, at Gator Field for a Region 1-AAAAA matchup. Wayne County took control early and came away with a 12-0 victory.

Wayne County scored four runs in the top of the first inning and added three more in the second to build an early 7-0 advantage. The Lady Yellow Jackets added another run in the third before completing the scoring later in the contest.

Ware County used Reagan Middleton and Teriayn Kirkland in the circle. Middleton worked the first 1⅔ innings, allowing seven runs, three earned, while recording one strikeout. Kirkland pitched the final 3⅓ innings and struck out three while allowing five runs, only one of which was earned.

Offensively, the Lady Gators were held to one hit. Cassidy Lee recorded that hit with a 1-for-2 performance at the plate.

Wayne County finished with 14 hits and took advantage of several Ware County defensive miscues to build its lead. Kallie Scott led the Lady Yellow Jackets with four hits, while Marlee Walling and Ellie Harrison also recorded multiple-hit performances.

The loss sends Ware County back to work as the Lady Gators prepare for another Region 1-AAAAA road contest next week.
