The Ware County Lady Gators Volleyball program traveled to Camden County on Wednesday, September 16, for an evening of competition against Camden County and West Nassau. While the results did not fall Ware County’s way, the Lady Gators showed plenty of fight throughout the night and gained valuable experience to carry forward.
The JV Green Lady Gators opened against Camden County and came out strong, taking the first set of the match. Camden responded in the second set to force a deciding third. Ware County continued to battle, but several unforced errors proved costly as Camden pulled away to secure the match. Despite the loss, JV Green showed its ability to compete and will look to build on the experience of playing in a tight, three-set contest.
JV Gold faced West Nassau and also found itself in a three-set battle. After dropping the opening set, the Lady Gators responded with a strong effort to capture the second and force a deciding third. Ware County fought until the final point but came up just short. The result may not have been what the Lady Gators wanted, but the determination and resilience they displayed were encouraging.
At the varsity level, Ware County faced both Camden County and West Nassau. The Lady Gators fell in straight sets in both matches. Passing proved to be a challenge throughout the evening and made it difficult for Ware County to consistently establish its offense. The Lady Gators will use the matches as an opportunity to identify areas for improvement as they continue through the season.
Although it was a difficult day on the scoreboard, Ware County leaves Camden County with valuable lessons and a clear understanding of where improvement is needed. The Lady Gators will get back in the gym, continue working, and prepare for their next opportunity.
