The Ware County Lady Gators returned home to the Gator Den on Tuesday, September 15, for a pair of important Region 1-AAAAA matches against Statesboro and Jenkins.
Ware County opened the playdate against Statesboro. The Lady Gators continued to battle throughout the match, but Statesboro was able to establish control and hand Ware County a straight-set loss.
The Lady Gators responded with a strong effort in their second match of the evening against Jenkins.
Ware County came out ready to play, capturing the opening set and taking the early advantage. Jenkins answered by winning the second set, sending the region matchup to a decisive third.
The final set went down to the wire. Neither team was able to create much separation as the Lady Gators continued to fight for every point. Ware County stayed within striking distance until the final serve before Jenkins escaped with a 15-13 victory in the third set, giving the Lady Warriors the 2-1 match win.
Despite the result, the second match showed the determination of a Ware County squad that responded well after its opening contest and pushed Jenkins to the final points of the night.
JV Lady Gators Continue to Compete
JV Green and JV Gold were also in action against Statesboro's JV squad. Both Ware County teams competed hard but fell in straight sets.
The evening concluded with JV Green and JV Gold meeting in an intersquad match. JV Green earned the straight-set victory as both groups received valuable court time and another opportunity to develop within the Lady Gator volleyball program.
Lady Gators Head to Camden
Ware County now turns its attention to another road test as Varsity, JV Green and JV Gold travel to Camden County for a playdate featuring Camden County High School and West Nassau.
The Lady Gators will look to build on Tuesday night's competitive effort as they continue through the 2026 season.
