STATESBORO, Ga. - September 3, 2026 - The Ware County Lady Gators picked up an important Region 1-AAAAA victory Thursday evening, traveling to Statesboro and defeating the Lady Blue Devils 15-5 in four innings.
Ware County wasted little time taking control. The Lady Gators scored five runs in the opening inning, added three more in the second, and then delivered a seven-run fourth inning to put the game away.
Addi Pittman provided one of the biggest offensive performances of the night, while Reagan Middleton delivered a bases-clearing double during Ware County's fourth-inning surge.
Lady Gators Strike Early
Ware County came out swinging and immediately put pressure on the Statesboro defense.
Pittman delivered the first big hit of the evening, driving a double that brought three Lady Gators home. Mattie Forsyth followed with an RBI single, and Darah Durrance added a sacrifice fly to give Ware County a commanding 5-0 advantage before Statesboro had an opportunity to bat.
The Lady Gators continued applying pressure in the second inning. Pittman ripped another double, and Cassidy Lee contributed an RBI single as Ware County stretched its early advantage.
Pittman's two doubles helped set the tone for an offense that consistently produced quality at-bats and put runners in scoring position.
Seven-Run Fourth Puts It Away
Ware County delivered its biggest offensive punch in the top of the fourth.
Lee started the scoring with an RBI single before Durrance was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home another run. Ella Musgrove followed by putting the ball in play and driving home a run.
Then came one of the biggest swings of the game.
Middleton drove a double into the field that cleared the bases and brought three Lady Gators home, breaking the game open. Kara Coleman followed with an RBI single as Ware County completed a seven-run inning.
By the time the Lady Gators were finished, they had pushed their total to 15 runs.
Complete Offensive Effort
Ware County finished the night with 10 hits, with Lee, Coleman and Pittman collecting two hits apiece.
The Lady Gators also demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing five walks. Coleman and Teriayn Kirkland each reached twice via walks, giving Ware County additional opportunities to keep innings alive and apply pressure.
Pittman's performance was especially important. Her pair of doubles helped produce multiple runs during Ware County's early offensive surge and gave the Lady Gators exactly the kind of start they wanted on the road.
Ware County also made plays defensively, including turning a double play, while Middleton provided innings in relief inside the circle.
Another Region Win for Ware County
Thursday's victory was an important one for the Lady Gators as they continue navigating the Region 1-AAAAA schedule.
Winning on the road in region play is never easy, but Ware County set the tone immediately and never allowed Statesboro to take control of the contest. The Lady Gators combined aggressive hitting, patient at-bats and timely run production to leave Statesboro with an impressive 15-5 run-rule victory.
It was another strong team performance and another step forward as Ware County continues its push through the 2026 season.
