WAYCROSS, Ga. - September 1, 2026 - The Ware County Lady Gators Volleyball program enjoyed a full evening of competition Tuesday inside the Gator Den, with the JV Green, JV Gold and Varsity squads all taking the court.

The night featured matches against the Evans Knights and Clinch County Panthers, along with a highly competitive intrasquad matchup between Ware County's two junior varsity teams. The Varsity Lady Gators capped the evening with an important Region 1-AAAAA contest against Evans.

JV Gold Battles Evans

The JV Gold Lady Gators opened their portion of the evening against Evans and competed hard throughout the match before falling in straight sets.

Ware County showed plenty of fight, but missed serves proved costly at key points in the match. Despite the setback, the Lady Gators continued to compete and will look to use the experience as an opportunity to improve as the season progresses.

JV Green Sweeps Clinch County

JV Green turned in a strong performance against Clinch County, defeating the Lady Panthers in straight sets.

The Lady Gators played with confidence and consistency throughout the match, putting together a solid all-around effort to earn the victory on their home court.

JV Green and JV Gold Square Off

The evening also provided an opportunity for Ware County's JV Green and JV Gold squads to face one another in a competitive intrasquad match.

JV Green earned the straight-set victory, but the final scores showed just how evenly matched the two Ware County squads were.

JV Green edged JV Gold 26-24 in a tightly contested opening set before earning a 25-23 victory in the second. Both teams battled from beginning to end, providing valuable competitive experience for the Lady Gators on both sides of the net.

Several Lady Gators delivered noteworthy performances throughout the JV competition.

For JV Green, Raya showed continued improvement from the service line, while Zhniya Lawrence provided an offensive spark with several big kills.

For JV Gold, Jordyn Powell recorded several kills and continued to battle throughout the evening for the Lady Gators.

Varsity Lady Gators Battle Evans in Region Matchup

The Varsity Lady Gators closed out the night by hosting Evans in a Region 1-AAAAA matchup.

Ware County battled the Knights from start to finish but came up just short in both sets, falling 25-23 and 25-21.

The opening set was a back-and-forth battle, with the Lady Gators remaining within striking distance throughout before Evans secured the final two points for the 25-23 win.

Ware County continued to fight in the second set, but several costly mistakes at key moments gave Evans opportunities to capitalize. The Knights eventually closed out the match with a 25-21 second-set victory.

Although the final result did not go Ware County's way, the Lady Gators continued to compete until the final point. The narrow margins in both sets give Ware County plenty to build on as the team continues through its region schedule.
