WAYCROSS, GA - September 1, 2026 - Senior Night at Gator Field provided plenty to celebrate Tuesday as the Ware County Lady Gators turned in a complete performance against the Jenkins Lady Warriors.
Ware County jumped out quickly, scoring nine runs in the opening inning on the way to a convincing 15-0 Region 1-AAAAA victory.
Before taking the field, Ware County recognized its senior softball players and celebrated their contributions to the Lady Gator program. Once the game began, the Lady Gators made sure the celebration continued.
Nine-Run First Sets the Tone
Ware County's lineup came out swinging and quickly put Jenkins on its heels.
Teriayn Kirkland brought home the first run with a single, and Kara Coleman followed with a two-run double. The Lady Gators continued to capitalize on opportunities throughout the inning, with Cassidy Lee driving home a run on a sacrifice fly and Lauren Belle adding another RBI.
Reagan Middleton provided one of the biggest swings of the inning, bringing three Lady Gators home with a single as Ware County built a commanding early advantage.
The offense stayed hot in the second.
Lee, Darah Durrance and Ella Musgrove each delivered doubles during the inning, while Kirkland added an RBI single down the right-field line. Ware County added two more runs in the third, including an RBI single from Durrance and a bases-loaded walk by Skye Reid.
By the end of the night, Ware County had collected 14 hits and 15 runs.
Kirkland Shuts Down Lady Warriors
The early run support was more than enough for Kirkland, who was outstanding in the circle.
Kirkland did not allow a hit or a run during her three innings of work. She struck out five Jenkins hitters and issued just one walk as the Lady Warriors were unable to generate any offensive momentum.
Ware County was equally sharp defensively.
The Lady Gators played error-free softball behind Kirkland, completing a strong all-around performance on Senior Night.
Production Throughout the Lineup
Middleton led Ware County's offensive attack with three hits in three trips to the plate.
Musgrove added two hits, while Lee, Durrance, Coleman, Middleton and Kirkland all contributed multiple RBIs.
Ware County also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks. Mattie Forsyth reached twice via the walk, and the Lady Gators remained aggressive once aboard, stealing five bases.
From the first pitch to the final out, it was a night that belonged to the Lady Gators — and especially to the seniors who were recognized at Gator Field.
Ware County walked away with a 15-0 region victory, a dominant pitching performance, an error-free night defensively and another special Senior Night memory for the Lady Gator Softball program.
