The Ware County Gators Cross Country teams hit the road Saturday morning, August 29, traveling to Coffee County to compete against a talented field of runners in a multi-team meet.
It was a productive day on the course for the Gators, highlighted by a top-five individual finish for the Lady Gators and a fourth-place overall team finish for the Gator boys.
Lady Gators Led by Top-Five Finish
Ware County did not have enough entries in the girls' race to qualify for a team score, but the Lady Gators who competed represented Ware County well with strong individual performances.
Leading the way was Yaneli M., who raced her way to an impressive fifth-place finish with a time of 23:34.
Millie B. crossed the finish line in 30th place, recording a time of 29:44, while Alexa V. finished 60th overall with a time of 32:38.
The three Lady Gators continued to gain valuable race experience while representing Ware County against a strong field of competitors.
Gator Boys Race to Fourth-Place Team Finish
On the boys' side, Ware County put together a solid team performance, finishing fourth overall in the multi-team event.
Damari Bennitt led the Gators across the finish line, placing 11th overall with a time of 20:01.30.
Brayten Hood followed with a 22nd-place finish in 21:03.50, while Brock Payne placed 27th with a time of 21:28.70.
Giovanni Solorio was next for Ware County, finishing 33rd in 21:46.40. Taishaun Muchinson finished 54th with a time of 23:19.10, while Easton Spikes placed 68th with a time of 24:36.10.
Seth King also competed for the Gators and crossed the finish line with a time of 25:19.90, while Ashton Stormant rounded out the Ware County field with a time of 28:28.30.
The fourth-place team finish was another positive step for the Gators as they continue working to lower their times and build toward the championship portion of the season.
Up Next: Gators Head to Long County
Ware County Cross Country will be back on the course on Saturday, September 5, when the Gators travel to Long County for another multi-team meet.
Competition is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM.
The Gators and Lady Gators will look to build on Saturday's performances as they continue through the 2026 season.
