The Ware County Lady Gators Volleyball Team continued to show growth and determination Thursday, August 20, as they traveled to Georgia Christian School for a non-region playdate featuring Georgia Christian and Corinth Christian.
Ware County finished the day 1-1, earning a strong straight-set victory over Corinth Christian while gaining valuable experience against Georgia Christian.
The Lady Gators put together one of their strongest performances of the day against Corinth Christian, controlling the match and finishing the job in straight sets. Ware County showed confidence, energy, and continued improvement as the Lady Gators worked together on both sides of the net.
At the net, Charmaine Ferrell and Kate Thorderson provided a major spark for the Lady Gators. The duo came up with several big blocks throughout the playdate, helping Ware County establish a strong presence defensively and giving the Lady Gators momentum at key moments.
Against host Georgia Christian, Ware County continued to battle and compete throughout the match. While the Lady Gators did not come away with the victory, the match provided another opportunity for this young team to gain experience, improve its execution, and continue building chemistry as the season progresses.
That continued development remains the focus for Ware County. Each opportunity on the court is helping the Lady Gators become more comfortable, more confident, and better prepared for the challenges ahead.
With non-region competition behind them for the moment, the Lady Gators now turn their attention toward an important milestone in the 2026 season - region play.
Ware County will return to action Tuesday, August 25, when the Lady Gators travel to Groves High School for their first region match of the season.
The work continues, the confidence continues to grow, and the Lady Gators are ready to take the next step.
