The Ware County Lady Gators Volleyball program hit the road Thursday, August 13, traveling to Colquitt County for an evening matchup with the Lady Packers. While the final results did not fall Ware County’s way, the Lady Gators showed continued improvement, battled throughout the night, and provided plenty of positives to build on as the season moves forward.
The JV Green Lady Gators opened the action against Colquitt County and fell to the Lady Packers in straight sets. Despite the result, The Lady Gators showed improvement on the court and continued to make strides as a young team.
The Lady Gators are working to eliminate self-inflicted mistakes and become more consistent from point to point. Each opportunity on the court provides valuable experience, and the JV Green squad will look to take what it learned Thursday night and continue improving in practice and competition.
One of the bright spots for Ware County came from the service line, where Kimber Tatum and Gracie Morgan were both perfect on their serves, finishing the match at 100 percent from the service line. Their consistency helped keep the Lady Gators competitive and provided an excellent example of the progress being made.
The Varsity Lady Gators capped off the evening with a hard-fought battle against the Lady Packers. Ware County competed until the final point and pushed Colquitt County all the way to the finish before coming up just short, 26-24 in the deciding set.
The close finish was another example of the fight this Lady Gator squad continues to display. Ware County refused to go away and continued battling for every point as the match came down to the wire.
Miracle Carter and Mia Brown provided strong play in the back row, delivering several quality passes and helping the Lady Gators stay organized defensively. Ri’Janae Buford also made her presence felt at the net, coming through with several big kills during the match.
Although the Lady Gators did not leave Colquitt County with the results it wanted, there was plenty to be encouraged about. The effort, competitiveness, and continued improvement were evident throughout the evening. The Lady Gators will now return to the practice floor, continue working to clean up mistakes, and prepare for their next opportunity.
There is a lot of volleyball still ahead, and these Lady Gators are continuing to battle, learn, and improve every time they step on the court.
