JV Earns 12-6 Victory; Varsity Pulls Away for 9-3 Win
The Ware County Lady Gators made it a clean sweep Monday evening at Gator Field, picking up a pair of wins over the visiting Atkinson County Rebels.
The JV Lady Gators got the evening started with a strong 12-6 victory, and the varsity squad followed with a 9-3 win to cap off a successful night of softball for Ware County.
Varsity Lady Gators Use Big Fourth Inning to Pull Away
Ware County grabbed the lead early in the varsity matchup and never gave it back, but it was a five-run fourth inning that gave the Lady Gators the separation they needed.
The Lady Gators got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning, taking advantage of an Atkinson County defensive mistake to grab an early 1-0 advantage.
Ware County kept the pressure on in the second. Teriayn Kirkland brought home a run on a ground ball before Reagan Middleton delivered an RBI single, extending the Lady Gators' lead.
The biggest offensive push came in the fourth inning.
Ware County sent five runs across the plate during the frame, turning a close contest into one firmly controlled by the Lady Gators. Kirkland delivered an RBI single, while Ware County's aggressive offense forced the Rebels into costly defensive mistakes. Ella Musgrove provided one of the biggest hits of the inning with an RBI double.
When the dust settled, Ware County had built a comfortable advantage on its way to the 9-3 victory.
Middleton also turned in a solid performance in the circle for the Lady Gators. She worked five innings, allowing four hits and three runs, with only one of those runs earned. Middleton struck out three and did not issue a walk.
At the plate, Kirkland finished with a hit and two RBIs, while Musgrove led Ware County with two hits in three at-bats.
It was a complete team effort for the Lady Gators, who combined timely hitting, pressure on the basepaths, and a strong outing in the circle to secure the win.
JV Lady Gators Start the Night With a Win
Ware County's JV squad set the tone for the evening by defeating Atkinson County 12-6 in the opening game.
The six-run victory gave the Lady Gators plenty to celebrate before the varsity team took the field and completed the sweep.

There won't be much downtime for Ware County.
The Lady Gators are back in action Tuesday, August 11, when they make the short trip over to Douglas to take on the Coffee County Trojans.
The JV Lady Gators are scheduled for a 4:00 PM first pitch, with the varsity game expected to begin around 6:00 PM.
