WAYCROSS, GA - August 6, 2026 - The Ware County Lady Gators returned to Gator Field Thursday afternoon for a pair of contests against the Brantley County Herons. Despite battling throughout both games, Ware County came up short on the scoreboard, with the JV Lady Gators falling 8-3 before the Varsity Lady Gators dropped a 10-2 decision in the nightcap.

For the Lady Gators, Thursday provided another early-season opportunity to compete, gain valuable experience, and continue building as they work through the opening portion of the 2026 schedule.

JV LADY GATORS FALL, 8-3

The afternoon began with the JV matchup as Ware County welcomed Brantley County to Gator Field.

The young Lady Gators were able to push three runs across the plate but ultimately could not overcome the Herons, falling 8-3.

While the final score did not go Ware County's way, the JV Lady Gators continued to gain valuable game experience that will be important as they progress through the season.

BIG SECOND INNING PUTS VARSITY LADY GATORS IN EARLY HOLE

In the varsity contest, Brantley County used a six-run second inning to build an early advantage that proved difficult for Ware County to overcome.

The Herons scored once in the opening inning before putting together their biggest offensive inning of the night in the second. When the inning ended, Ware County faced a 7-0 deficit.

Despite the early hole, the Lady Gators continued to compete and found some offensive production of their own.

Addi Pittman led Ware County at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 to account for two of the Lady Gators' five hits.

Teriayn Kirkland also contributed offensively, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ware County finished the night with two runs on five hits while also drawing three walks.

KIRKLAND PROVIDES RELIEF IN THE CIRCLE

Reagan Middleton received the start in the circle for Ware County before Kirkland entered in relief.

Kirkland worked 3⅔ innings, allowing four hits and four runs, three earned, while recording three strikeouts and issuing just one walk.

Brantley County finished with 10 hits and took advantage of its opportunities on the bases to maintain the advantage. Ware County continued battling through the final inning but was unable to generate the rally needed to close the gap, resulting in the 10-2 final.

Thursday's results give the Lady Gators plenty to build from as they continue through the early stages of the season. With several games still ahead, Ware County will look to learn from the night, make adjustments, and get back to work.
