The Ware County boys tennis team saw its postseason run come to a close on the road, falling 3 - 1 to Cedartown in the second round of the GHSA AAAA State Tennis Tournament.

Facing a tough Bulldogs squad, the Gators battled throughout the afternoon but were ultimately undone by Cedartown’s strength in singles play, which proved to be the difference in the match.

Ware County’s lone point came in dominant fashion from the doubles team of Ashton Stormant and Eli Cook. The duo controlled their match from the start, cruising to a convincing 6 - 0, 6 - 2  victory and giving the Gators an early boost.

The other doubles team of Cash Carter and Landon Lingenfelter also showed promise, taking the first set and appearing well on their way to evening the overall match score. However, before they could finish, Cedartown secured wins across the singles courts to clinch the match and halt any potential comeback.

While the result marked the end of the season, it does little to overshadow what Ware County accomplished this year. The Gators advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in recent memory and finished with an 11 - 8 record - improving by three wins compared to last season.
