WAYCROSS, GA - It’s one of the most exciting weeks of the spring season in the Swamp as multiple Ware County Gator programs gear up for postseason play and region championship competition. From the courts to the course, the track, and Gator Field, it will be a packed slate with high stakes across the board.

The week features first-round state playoff matchups, region title opportunities, and key performances that could define the remainder of the spring for Ware County Athletics.


Monday, April 20 - Postseason Begins at Home

The week gets underway with the Lady Gators Tennis team hosting Flowery Branch in the opening round of the state playoffs at 2:00 PM. Coming off a historic region championship, the Lady Gators will look to carry their momentum into the postseason on their home courts.

On the links, the Ware County Golf teams will travel to Warner Robins to compete in the Area Tournament.  The Girls have a tee time of 12:45 PM.  The Boys will Tee off at 11:15 AM.  Both squads will be looking to position themselves for advancement as postseason golf begins.


Tuesday, April 21 - Track and Boys Tennis Take Center Stage

The spotlight shifts to the track as the Gators travel to Wayne County for the the Region 1-AAAA Track & Field Championships prelims at 11:00 AM. With a strong showing expected, The Gators aim to qualify athletes for Thursday’s finals.

Meanwhile, the Boys Tennis team will host Eastside at 2:00 PM in the first round of the state playoffs, looking to join the Lady Gators in advancing deeper into the bracket.


Wednesday, April 22 - Baseball Opens State Playoffs

Gator Baseball takes the field at home for a first-round doubleheader against Walnut Grove beginning at 4:00 PM. With postseason intensity in full swing, the Gators will look to defend their home field and make an early statement in the GHSA AAAA State Playoffs.


Thursday, April 23 - Championship Moments Across Multiple Sports

Thursday will be one of the busiest and most important days of the week.

  • If necessary, Game 3 of the baseball playoff series against Walnut Grove will be played at 4:30 PM at Gator Field.

  • The Region 1-AAAA Track & Field Championships finals will take place at Wayne County beginning at 11:00 AM, where region titles and state Sectional Qualifiers will be decided.

  • Both Gator Soccer teams hit the road for first-round state playoff matchups. The Lady Gators will face North Oconee at 6:00 PM, while the boys will take on Walnut Grove at 5:30 PM.


Saturday, April 25 - Golf Rounds Out The Regular Season

The week wraps up with the Ware County Golf teams traveling to Statesboro for a multi-team event beginning at 10:30 AM.


A Huge Week for Multiple Gators to Shine

With region championships on the line and state playoff brackets underway, this week represents a defining stretch for Ware County Athletics. The Gators will lean on their preparation, depth, and home-field advantage to continue building on an already successful spring season.
