The Ware County Gators Varsity Baseball team traveled to Wayne County on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, for Game Two of a critical Region 1-AAAA three-game series. The Gators battled throughout the night but were unable to recover from an early deficit, falling to the Yellow Jackets by a score of 8-4.
Wayne County set the tone early, pushing across a run in the bottom of the first inning to take the initial lead. The Yellow Jackets continued to apply pressure in the second, taking advantage of opportunities at the plate along with a defensive miscue to extend their advantage. Another pair of runs in the third inning widened the gap and put the Gators in an early hole.
Ware County worked to respond offensively and showed resilience at the plate, but Wayne County maintained control of the game. A solo home run in the fifth inning added to the Yellow Jackets’ lead and helped secure the win.
Collin Crawford sparked the Gators offensively from the leadoff spot, finishing with two hits on the night. Tanner Larisey contributed both on the mound and at the plate, driving in a team-high two runs. On the mound, Larisey battled through four innings, recording three strikeouts.
Despite the setback, the Gators continued to compete and look to regroup heading into the series finale.
