WAYCROSS, GA - The Ware County Gator Track and Field teams turned in an impressive all-around performance on Senior Night, hosting Wayne County on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Competing in front of a home crowd, both the boys and girls teams delivered dominant results, showcasing depth, speed, and strength across the track and field events.
The Ware County boys team secured a commanding victory, finishing with 307 points compared to Wayne County’s 187. The Lady Gators followed suit with a strong showing of their own, totaling 287 points to Wayne County’s 166.
From the opening events, Ware County set the tone with standout performances in the sprints. In the girls 100-meter dash, the Lady Gators swept the top three spots, led by Azian Smith, followed closely by Charmaine Farrell and Ri’Janae Buford. On the boys side, Rykeil Kitchen paced Ware County with a second-place finish in a competitive field.
Kitchen returned later in the meet to capture first place in the boys 200-meter dash, while Ja’Londi O’Hara and Theo Hawkins added valuable points with strong finishes. The Lady Gators continued their dominance in the 200-meter race, sweeping the top three positions once again behind Shakira Lane, Buford, and Farrell.
Ware County’s strength extended into the middle-distance events, where the Gators controlled the competition. Damari Bennett led a sweep in the boys 800-meter run, followed by Lorenzo Harris and Brock Payne. In the distance events, Giovanni Solorio claimed victory in the boys 3200-meter run, while Faith Williams took first in the girls 3200-meter race and added points with a strong showing in the 1600 and 800 meters.
In the hurdles, Nadya Ellis highlighted the night for the Lady Gators, winning both the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Jawaun Leblanc led the boys with a runner-up finish in both hurdle events, while Kieran Brown added depth with multiple scoring performances.
The Gators also excelled in the relay events, with both teams capturing wins in the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x800 relays. The Lady Gators added another victory in the 4x400 relay, further solidifying their team score advantage.
In the field events, Ware County continued to shine. Cameron King led a dominant performance in the boys long jump and triple jump, claiming first place in both events. Adarius Brown cleared 6-6 to win the boys high jump, while the Gators swept the top three spots in the event. In the throwing events, Teshaun Wilson led a strong showing in discus, and Dominique Mackey placed second in the shot put.
For the Lady Gators, Shidaviona Washington earned victories in the triple jump and placed second in the long jump, while A’Treasure White and Tania Garrison contributed key points in the throws.
Overall, the meet served as a fitting celebration of the program’s seniors, highlighting both the veteran leadership and the rising talent within the program. With strong performances across every event group, the Gators continue to build momentum as they head toward the postseason.
