WAYCROSS, GA - The Ware County Gator Tennis teams hosted Appling County on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Ware County High School, with the boys earning a hard-fought victory while the girls came up just short in a competitive match.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Gators battled throughout but fell to Appling County by a score of 3-2. Ware County picked up wins from Bailey Denton at first singles and the doubles team of Ella Beth Cox and Addie Bishop. Despite the loss, the Lady Gators continued to show resilience and consistency as they prepare for postseason play.
The Gator boys secured their tenth win of the season with a 3-2 victory over Appling County in a match that came down to the final court. Bridge Little earned a key singles win, while the doubles team of Ashton Stormant and Eli Cook added another point for Ware County.
The deciding match came at second singles, where Miles Smith delivered a clutch performance. After dropping the first set, Smith battled back to force a third-set tiebreak, ultimately clinching the match and sealing the victory for the Gators.
With the regular season now complete, both teams will turn their focus to the upcoming state tournament as they look to build on a strong season and continue competing at a high level.
