The Ware County Gators Varsity Baseball team made a strong statement in Region 1–AAAA play on Friday, March 20, 2026, traveling to Perry and coming away with a doubleheader sweep of the Panthers. Behind timely hitting, aggressive base running, and solid pitching, the Gators secured wins of 12 - 1 and 10 - 7.

Game 1: Gators Break It Open Early in 12 - 1 Win

After a quiet start, Ware County broke through in the third inning and then took full control in the fourth.

The Gators exploded for six runs in the fourth inning, turning a tight contest into a commanding lead. The big swing came from Isaiah White, who delivered a key RBI double to help ignite the rally. Ware County continued to apply pressure in the fifth inning, adding five more runs behind contributions from Collin Crawford, Seth Suess, and Landon Smallwood.

On the mound, Ryder Kinnon delivered a strong performance, allowing just one run over five innings while keeping the Panthers’ offense in check.

Offensively, the Gators tallied 11 hits, with Suess, Crawford, and Smallwood each recording multiple hits. Crawford led the team in RBIs, while Keaton Holloway created havoc on the bases with three stolen bases as part of a six-steal effort by Ware County. Defensively, the Gators played a clean game without committing an error.

Game 2: Big Fifth Inning Lifts Gators to 10 - 7 Victory

Game two proved to be more competitive, with both teams trading momentum early.

Ware County took an early lead in the third inning behind RBIs from Garrison Joyner and Slade Sweat, but Perry answered to even the score. After the Panthers briefly took the lead in the fourth, the Gators responded in a big way.

In the fifth inning, Ware County erupted for six runs, reclaiming control of the game. A clutch two-RBI double by Tanner Larisey highlighted the inning and proved to be the difference.

Slade Sweat earned the win on the mound, working through five innings, while Landon Smallwood came in to secure the save.

At the plate, Sweat and Larisey led the way with multiple hits, while Brodie Burchett and Larisey each drove in two runs. The Gators continued to be aggressive on the base paths, swiping six more bases, including two by Colt Cox, and also turned a key double play defensively.
