The Ware County Gator Track & Field teams turned in an outstanding performance on Thursday, March 19, 2026, as they hosted McIntosh County Academy at Ware County High School. In front of the home crowd, both the Lady Gators and Gator boys delivered commanding victories, showcasing depth, speed, and strength across the board.

The Lady Gators captured the team title in dominant fashion, scoring 294 points to MCA’s 112, while the Gator boys followed suit with an impressive 327 - 114 win.


Lady Gators Shine Across the Track and Field

Ware County’s girls set the tone early in the sprint events, sweeping the top spots in the 100-meter dash. Shidaviona Washington led the way with a first-place finish (13.37), followed closely by Azian Smith (13.46) and Ri’Janae Buford (13.85).

In the 200-meter dash, Shakira Lane secured another victory for the Gators, while Buford and Gekhya Rawls added valuable points with strong finishes. The 400-meter race saw Amaria Dukes take first place, with Bailey Young finishing second.

Distance standout Faith Williams had a big day, winning both the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs, while also placing in the 800-meter to contribute heavily to the Gators’ total.

The Gators were equally strong in the hurdles, as Nadya Ellis captured the 100-meter hurdles title and added a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Buford and Alexia Sherman also turned in strong performances in both hurdle events.

Relay teams continued the dominance, with Ware County sweeping all three relays (4x100, 4x200, and 4x400), highlighting the team’s depth and chemistry.

In the field events, Shidaviona Washington claimed the long jump title, while Natalie Paterson won the high jump. The throwing events were led by Tania Garrison, who took first in the shot put, supported by multiple Gators scoring points in a deep and talented group.


Gator Boys Deliver Complete Team Performance

On the boys’ side, Ware County showcased a balanced attack across all events. Jalondi O’Hara led the sprint group with a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash, while Jawaun Leblanc turned in a standout day—placing second in the 100 meters and winning both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles.

In the 400-meter dash, Damari Bennett took first place, and he later added points in the 800-meter run. That event was dominated by the Gators, with Brock Payne and Lorenzo Harris finishing first and second.

Distance events saw Giovanni Solorio claim victory in the 3200 meters, continuing Ware County’s strong showing across all disciplines.

The Gators excelled in the field as well. Adarius Brown cleared an impressive 6-09 to win the high jump, while Cameron King dominated the jumping events - winning both the long jump and triple jump.

In the throwing events, Kyler Matthews led the way with a first-place finish in the shot put, and Teshaun Wilson secured gold in the discus.

Relay teams added to the total, with the Gators winning the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, further cementing the team victory.
