Ware County student-athletes were busy across several sports on Monday as Gator teams competed both at home and on the road in golf, tennis, soccer, and baseball action.
The Ware County Boys and Girls Golf Teams traveled to Lee County to compete against a strong field of teams. The Gator boys finished 6th out of 12 teams with a team score of 333, while the Lady Gators turned in an impressive performance, finishing 3rd out of 12 teams with a team score of 270. Individual player results from the tournament can be found on the Ware County Athletics website.
On the tennis courts, the JV Boys and Girls Tennis Teams traveled to Camden County to face the Wildcats in a competitive matchup. Both teams battled throughout the afternoon but ultimately came up just short, with the girls and boys each falling by set scores of 2 - 3.
Back in Waycross at the Ware County Soccer Complex, the JV Lady Gators Soccer Team delivered a strong performance, defeating Jeff Davis 5 - 1. The JV Boys Soccer Team followed with another Gator victory, edging Jeff Davis 2 - 1 to complete the JV soccer sweep for the evening.
The day concluded at Gator Field, where the Ware County Gators Baseball Team hosted Wayne County in a tightly contested matchup. The game remained close throughout and required extra innings before the Yellow Jackets pulled away late, handing the Gators a 7 - 4 loss in 10 innings.
Despite the tough result on the diamond, the day showcased strong performances across multiple programs as Gator athletes continue a busy spring sports schedule.
