The Ware County Gators delivered an exciting offensive performance Tuesday evening, defeating the Vidalia Indians 10 - 7 at Gator Field on March 3, 2026. The win came after several lead changes and showcased the Gators’ aggressive base running and timely hitting.

Ware County struck first in the bottom of the opening inning. Walker Hudson lined a single down the left field line to bring home a run, and Landon Smallwood later drew a walk that forced in another, giving the Gators an early 2 - 0 advantage.

Vidalia responded in the top of the second inning, taking a 3 - 2 lead. A two-run double from Cayden Nance sparked the rally, followed by an RBI single from Ryan Brantley.

The Gators answered in the third inning to regain control of the game. Landon Smallwood drove in a run on a groundout before Tanner Larisey delivered an RBI single down the left field line to push Ware County back in front 4 - 3.

Vidalia briefly tied the contest in the fourth inning when Brantley came through again with an RBI single, evening the score at 4 - 4. However, Ware County quickly reclaimed the momentum in the bottom half of the inning. Slade Sweat delivered an RBI single, Keaton Holloway worked a bases-loaded walk, and Tanner Larisey added a sacrifice fly to give the Gators another multi-run lead.

On the mound, Slade Sweat earned the win after working five innings. The right-hander allowed four hits and four runs three earned while striking out eight. Trace Crosby provided relief, and Ryder Kinnon secured the save to close out the victory.

Ware County collected nine hits on the night. Seth Suess, Keaton Holloway, and Walker Hudson each recorded two hits to lead the offense, while Suess and Sweat both drove in two runs. The Gators also showed excellent patience at the plate, drawing eight walks, with Smallwood and Holloway earning two each.

Perhaps the most notable element of the game was Ware County’s aggressive base running. The Gators stole 16 bases, with Suess, Colt Cox, Collin Crawford, and Hudson each swiping multiple bags.

Vidalia was led offensively by Ryan Brantley, who collected three hits and drove in two runs, while Cayden Nance also added two RBIs for the Indians.
