The Gator Den was electric Saturday night as the Ware County Varsity Boys Basketball Team continued its postseason run in emphatic fashion. In Round 2 - the “Sweet 16” of the Georgia High School Association Class AAAA State Basketball Playoffs - the Gators powered past the Hiram Hornets with an impressive 81-61 victory.
With the win, Ware County improves to 26-3 overall and advances to the Elite Eight, keeping their state championship hopes very much alive.
Fast Start Sets the Tone
From the opening tip, the Gators played with intensity and purpose. Ware County established control early behind aggressive defense and efficient scoring, building momentum that carried throughout the night. The Gators pushed the tempo, attacked the rim, and knocked down timely shots to create separation.
By halftime, Ware County had built a comfortable advantage and never allowed Hiram to mount a serious comeback in the second half.
Balanced Offensive Attack
The Gators showcased one of their most complete offensive performances of the season, with five players reaching double figures:
Davion Jones led the way with a game-high 26 points, consistently finding openings in transition and in the half-court set.
Kevin Ramsey added 16 points, providing steady perimeter scoring.
Elan Jones contributed 12 points with key baskets at crucial moments.
Masiyer “Moo Moo” McKoy chipped in 11 points, bringing energy on both ends of the floor.
Isaiah White rounded out the balanced attack with 10 points.
Ware County’s ability to spread the scoring and share the basketball proved too much for the Hornets to handle.
Defensive Presence
Beyond the scoring output, the Gators’ defensive intensity played a major role in the outcome. Ware County forced difficult shots, controlled the boards, and limited second-chance opportunities. Their defensive pressure helped fuel fast-break opportunities that widened the gap as the game progressed.

Ware County will hit the road for the next round of the state playoffs. The Gators will travel to face the Jonesboro Cardinals at Jonesboro High School on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, with a 6:00 PM tipoff in the GHSA AAAA State Playoff Series “Elite 8.”
