The Ware County Gators hit the road Thursday, February 26, 2026, traveling to Brunswick for a non-region matchup with the Pirates. Despite an early spark, Ware County was unable to keep pace with Brunswick’s middle-inning surge, falling by a final score of 7 - 3.

Ware County struck first in the top of the second inning, capitalizing on a passed ball to plate the game’s opening run. Brunswick answered quickly in the bottom half of the frame, using a two-run double from Braxton Johnson and an RBI single from Brody Sapp to move in front.

The Pirates extended their advantage in the third inning when Trenton Robinson delivered a three-run home run to left field, creating separation that Ware County could not fully overcome.

On the mound, Slade Sweat worked five innings for the Gators, striking out three while battling through traffic on the bases. Brunswick’s starter limited Ware County’s opportunities and kept the Gators from generating a late comeback.

Offensively, Walker Hudson led Ware County with two hits in four at-bats. Sweat and Blake Gunter each recorded an RBI, while Collin Crawford added pressure on the basepaths with two stolen bases. As a team, the Gators swiped five bags and continued to show aggressiveness offensively despite the setback.
