The Ware County Gators Rifle Team delivered an outstanding performance Monday, February 23, 2026, competing in the GHSA Sectional at the Rifle Range in Waycross against Carver–Atlanta. Shooting the 3x10 Air Rifle course of fire, Ware County placed three teams ahead of Carver in the overall standings while also producing a state qualifier.
Team Results Overview
Ware County’s depth was on full display as Ware A claimed the top spot with a strong aggregate score of 1164-70, followed by Ware B in second (1121-41) and Ware C in third (979-23). Carver High A finished fourth with a 961-12 aggregate.

Ware A paced the field with balanced shooting across all three positions.

Thornton led all shooters for Ware A and highlighted the day with a near-flawless kneeling round.

Ware B also turned in a solid showing, led by consistent scoring throughout the lineup.

Additional Performances
The Ware 4-H squad finished fifth overall with an 832-34 aggregate, highlighted by Greyson Christmas (289-15) and Aleeah Eason (282-12). Carver High B placed sixth.
⭐ State Qualifier Recognition
A special congratulations goes to Camdyn Thornton, who qualified for the GHSA State Championship with a stellar 295 aggregate and 20 center shots. Thornton’s performance set the tone for Ware County’s sectional success and marked one of the top individual scores of the day.
