The Ware County Gators traveled to Warner Robins this week to compete in the Region 1 - AAAA Basketball Tournament hosted at Warner Robins High School - and both teams returned home with major accomplishments.
Lady Gators Secure Third Seed with Consolation Victory
The Lady Gators tipped off at 4:00 PM in the Consolation Finals against the Perry Panthers and battled their way to a hard-earned 44 - 39 victory.
In a tightly contested matchup, Ware County showed composure down the stretch, executing on both ends of the floor to close out the win. The victory secures the #3 seed for the Lady Gators in the upcoming GHSA AAAA State Tournament.
The state tournament is set to begin on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, with the Lady Gators’ opponent and game time to be announced.
With postseason play ahead, the Lady Gators carry momentum and confidence into state competition.
Gators Claim Region Championship, Secure #1 Seed
The night belonged to the Varsity Boys.
Tipping off at 8:30 PM against Wayne County, the Gators delivered a championship performance, earning a victory by a score of 67 - 44 and claiming the Region 1-AAAA Championship. With the win, Ware County improves to 24 - 3 on the season and secures the #1 seed heading into the state tournament.
Balanced scoring powered the Gators to victory:
Davion Jones - 22 points
Kevin Ramsey - 12 points
Masiyer “Moo Moo” McKoy - 10 points
Elan Jones - 10 points
The offensive efficiency, combined with strong defensive pressure, allowed Ware County to control the tempo and seal the championship.
